Documenting People and Place
Diane Muldowney is a freelance multimedia artist and self-described ferroquinologist, based in the heart of Pendle, Lancashire.
Working primarily in documentary photography, her practice explores post-industrial landscapes, heritage railways, and the people who sustain them. Her work is rooted in storytelling, capturing the skill, resilience, and quiet pride of communities often overlooked.
Diane began her artistic journey studying Fine Art at UCLan in the 1990s, where she developed a foundation in film photography and traditional darkroom processes. She returned to academia in 2020, graduating with an MA in Fine Art with distinction, deepening her commitment to socially engaged and research-led practice.
Alongside her photographic work, Diane delivers workshops in Photography, Cyanotype printing, Charcoal drawing, and Linocut printing, creating inclusive spaces that encourage creativity, confidence, and connection.
